We just received the new Jewelry Affair magazine and we are blown away by the beautiful pieces of jewelry featured in the magazine. Jewelry Affair features the most innovative artists for your own inspiration as well as replication. Some articles include tutorials or descriptions on how the artist achieved a style, or made a particular piece of jewelry. We took a look inside this issue and decided to share what we found.
This is a beautiful design by Kate Bock using found stones from a garden or river. Taking inspiration from the beauty existing outside, the natural stones contrasted with the gold toned wire has such wonderful warm, neutral colors for summer or fall. We fell in love with this design and decided to attempt the project.
We love this piece. The inconsistent and messy structure just radiates “natural” and compliments the natural cut of the nuggets we chose to put on the inside. The colors are so wonderful for summer, and the size of the pendant can complete a wonderfully dramatic, long necklace.
We used a random assortment of “found” pieces: a Turquoise Nugget at $2.95 each, a Rose Quartz Nugget at $0.95 each and a Fresh Water Pearl at $0.95 each. We recommend using base metal wire, such as our Soft Flex Gold-Plated Wire, because the copper base makes the wire more flexible, allowing the assembly of a piece such as this much easier. The project is a little more difficult than it appears, but patience and perseverance can pull a beader of any level through this project.
